Until we meet again...

On Friday March 12, we held the memorial service for Joe. We awoke that morning to rain & gray skies that showed no promise of breaking. Perhaps just as well, as I never want to resent the sun for shining when my heart is heavy. It was a beautiful memorial, with family & many friends. Joe's mother, 2 brothers & sister were with me...and although Joe had been estranged from his family for too many years, I felt nothing but love from them all. I feel I was given an opportunity to mend some old hurts & to move on. I hope that I can continue to mend these relationships. If I have learned anything from this tragedy, it is that life is too short & too precious to waste. Your life can change in the blink of an eye, and I do not want to reach the end of my life mourning what could have been. I want to embrace & celebrate what was, and will be. *elaine*

There is a positive to such a sad occasion. I hope bridges can be mended, and you can share some wonderful memories of him, with them.
I hope you feel closure now, and can start to look forward, and hold all of your memories with him close to your heart.
We in blogland are all thinking of you, and give a smile for the time you spent together.

I agree with Sue, you are in our thoughts. I think of you often and hope that you begin to get your life back. Not that it will ever be the same, but Joe (I'm sure) would want you to go on. Please take care of yourself and try to smile again.

Elaine, I'm holding you in my thoughts and prayers. You are a wise woman and I'll pray that those bridges can and will be mended. My best friend lost her husband on March 12 three years ago. I watched her struggle with moving forward as Robert would have wanted her to and I know you are facing the same struggles. I hope you know you are in a circle of friends who are constantly praying for strength and healing for you.

Though the path ahead may be a little rocky at times a positive outlook is a blessing. The memories of your dearest will be carried around your heart and will strenghten you.
I'm sure that bridges can be mended and improved upon. I send you my kind regards, and very best wishes.

I'm so sorry to read about your husband's death. My dad died of cancer 8 years ago at age 57. My mom felt much like you. Get out of bed and Put one foot in front of the other was about she could do. Obviously, things improved from there and she lives a great life now. My heart hurts for you and your deep and profound loss. I believe you can be with him again some day. My condolences!

Best wishes at this incredibly difficult time - I had tears in my eyes when I read your blog entry. (This is what I admire about blogs - that contact, the sharing of feelings with others who you'll never meet, but we recognise and appreciate the emotions we all share). Don't know if that makes much sense, but my prayers for you. Valerie x
